Coming to the technicalities of oil painting for a
novice, all you need is an oil painting sheet (this is different from
the regular drawing charts) or a canvas, oil paints (preferably tubes), anti climb paint
oil medium (linseed oil is a good choice, can be teamed up with
turpentine here and there for fast drying, though) and a set of brushes.

brushes do good for painting backdrops like sky or any background
blending.

Plot your object on the paper/ canvas in a rough sketch(
you may choose different techniques for transferring the piece of
drawing on to your sheet or canvas. The famous dark room-small

way for beginners), mix the colors appropriately and spread them on the
sheet and start blending and lo! your piece of art is ready! However be
cautious while letting the painting dry. It usually takes a week to a
few months depending on the thickness of color used, but make sure the
painting is untouched. Also protect it from flying dust. Flying dust

painting and after while it gets embedded into the painting and spoils
the effects you have created with the colors.
